Germany ’s World Cup winning coach
Joachim Loew has been sponsoring poor
children in Ghana for several years as he is
and wife have been unable to have any kids
after 25 years of marriage.
The coach who steered the European to the
World Cup title in Brazil last week has been
paying for the upkeep for many children in
orphanages in Ghana .
Loew and wife would have liked to have had
their own children to look and says ‘ but
unfortunately it ’ s not the case ’ so he decided
to help children in poor countries particularly
in Africa
“My wife and I , unfortunately don’ t have
children, we would have actually liked to be
with our own kids , unfortunately it ’ s not the
case, ” Loew said .
Loew reported about his engagement for
children in Ghana in an interview with a
children’ s news programme in Germany on
Thursday after he was hailed in the country
for his success in Brazil .
Because he has personally seen many
miserable children in this world, especially in
Africa, it compelled him to engage in financial
assistance to ( poor) children who are in dire
need .
Loew was in Tanzania twice to visit with
orphans in the early 1990 and according to
him, he discovered that many children were
totally helpless.
Some were lying helplessly by roadside while
others were too sick without any medical
attention and no one taking care of them .
The 54- year old coach , in an interview for
children news also said , they are married for
more than 25 years, but they keep
themselves completely out of public .
According to the children’ s aid organisation
Plan international Germany the coach has
been sponsoring children in Ghana since
2010.
In the same year he supported a project in
Rwanda to facilitate sports courts for primary
schools and also equipped school teams with
jerseys and footballs .
