Arsene Wenger keen on Kostas Manolas move

Arsene Wenger wants to bolster his squad with Greek defender Kostas Manolas , according to reports . It is reported that the Arsenal boss has made the Olympiakos centre-half his first choice to replace Thomas Vermaelen after the Belgian’s switch to Barcelona this summer , but the stumbling block could be whether they can persuade the £5million-rated player to move to the Emirates knowing that he would not be an automatic pick.

Manolas joined Olympiacos July 1, 2012  on a free transfer until 30 June 2016 after his contract with AEK Athens has expired. On 22 March 2014, Manolas expanded his contract with the Greek giant Olympiakos for another year. The new contact expires in the summer of 2017.
