Exclusive: Klose announces international retirement

World Cup all-time record-scorer, Miroslav Klose, has announced his retirement from international football today.
The 36-year-old follows his teammate Philipp Lahm and quits his Germany career as World Cup champion.
“The title in Brazil was a dream come true,” he told the DFB website.
“I am proud and happy that I was part of this massive success for German football. I had a great and amazing time with many unforgettable moments with the national team.
“For me, there is no better time to retire and to close the chapter national team.”
Klose scored two goals in Brazil to surpass Brazil’s Ronaldo (15) and set up a new all-time record of overall goals scored at the World Cup.
He scored his 16 goals over for tournaments and is also Germany’s all-time record-scorer with 71 goals in 137 games after he recently surpassed Gerhard Muller (68).
“When I started ten years ago with Germany, Miro was already there. He is a world star, one of the best strikers of all time,” added Joachim Low.
"He has an enormous amount of different skills and qualities, and I hardly met a player who is so humble and such a great team player."
Klose had already announced that he will quit his football career after this season and will now fully focus on the last days in his club career with Lazio.
