Platini wants to ban Ribéry for quitting France

UEFA BOSS SAYS IT SHOULDN'T BE PLAYERS' DECISION

UEFA president Michel Platini has claimed that Franck Ribéry would face a three-game ban at club level if he were to reject a France call-up,
despite having retired from international football.
"Franck Ribéry cannot unilaterally decide whether he plays for France or not. If coach Didier Deschamps calls him up, he has to report for
duty", Platini stated in an interview printed in German daily Bild's Sunday edition.
"If he refuses, he will be suspended for three games with Bayern Munich", the former Juventus star added.
According to Platini, the FIFA Statutes clearly set out that it is the coach's decision whether a player is named in an international squad or not, not the player's.
The Frenchman also claimed that Philipp Lahm's case is different, because he came to an agreement with Germany coach Joachim Löw
before quitting 'Die Mannschaft'. "But basically it is not Lahm's decision, it is Löw's", Platini insisted.
The 59-year-old went on to state that he can't understand Ribéry's decision considering Euro 2016 is being held in France. "He's French and the next European Championship will take in
France, not Poland, so he should want to play!", granted the former 'Les Bleus' captain.
