Yanga-Mbiwa takes parting swipe at Premier League after Serie A switch
The 25-year-old France centre-half says he is looking forward to playing with the ball at his fee again after moving to Italy Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has taken a swipe at English football after leaving Newcastle United for Roma, arguing that the Premier League favours physicality over footballing ability.
The France international has joined the Gialloross on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent switch to the Stadio Olimpico next
summer.
Yanga-Mbiwa is looking forward to plying his trade, primarily because he feels he will be able to play with the ball at his feet for the first time
since leaving Montpellier for Newcastle in January
2013.
"[In England], they don't have the same way of seeing things," the defender told reporters on Thursday. "It's all based on physicality.
"Here [in Italy], I believe that things are different. One plays more with the ball. The Italian league is much more similar to the French."
Yanga-Mbiwa also admitted that he is also excited by the prospect of working with Roma coach Rudi Garcia, revealing that the former Lille boss played a major role in his decision to move to the Italian capital.
"I know Garcia already," he versatile 25-year-old centre-half explained. "He was one of the greates
coaches in France. "He convinced me to come here to win the
championship. The coach was the first to call m "He had already noticed me when I won the title
in France with Montpellier and he knows what I can give.
"I'm hungry for trophies and victories; I've come to Roma for this. We certainly have a great squad
and we will do everything to achieve great goals.
